Q. Can you balance closed centre wheels?
A. Yes of course, Peugeot and Citroen have recently introduced closed centre alloy wheels to some vehicles in their ranges. Because the wheel cannot be mounted on a conventional balancer shaft, many garages and tyre specialists are unable to balance this type of wheel.
Q. What do you do with all your old tyres?
A. The disposal of worn tyres is a big problem. More than 100,000 tyres are changed in the U.K. every day. Effectively, the practice of landfill is no longer available or desirable. Tyrefair was one of the first tyre specialists in the U.K. to sign up to the Environment Agency's Tyrewatch Programme which promotes best practice in relation to the disposal of worn tyres. We have a duty of care to ensure that scrap is disposed of in a safe and correct manner which we take very seriously. Currently all of our worn tyres are sent to Sapphire Energy at Dunbar, where they are granulated and used as an energy source in the manufacture of cement. Emissions in the cement kilns are 20% less than with the burning of fossil fuels.
Q. Are your prices competitive and can I buy cheaper on the Internet?
A. The Company monitors prices from our competitors constantly. We pride ourselves on offering good value and excellent service. It is a common myth that buying online is cheaper. Very often the Internet Company is not the Service Provider, in other words they are not directly responsible for fitting the tyres. This is often placed in the hands of a sub contractor or agent who needs to make a profit. Sometimes there can be as many as 4 Companies in the 'chain' before you finally buy the tyre. All of these companies need to make a profit and there can also be problems when the fitting agent is not a tyre specialist. In our view, it is always better to deal with the Service Provider, particularly when they are local and available 7 days a week. Naturally you can buy online from Tyrefair!
Q. Can you deal with leased and Company Vehicles?
A. Yes of course! Through our trade network we can handle most vehicles on lease or contract hire, and even self drive rental. Contact us if you need more information!
